Yuri, Sooyoung, and SM Entertainment Support Celebrity Rights and Fair Contracts

SM Entertainment revealed today that they have become a leader in protecting celebrity rights.

What exactly does this mean to the entertainment business? According to the people who attended the meeting (which includes Grand National Party committee leader Jo Moonhwan, SME representative Kim Youngmin, and SNSD), their main mission has been to hold a 「proclamation to establish the development of celebrity contracts.」 The people met on July 6 to create such a proclamation, which would hold the purpose of promoting the creation of reasonable contracts between entertainers and management companies, protecting the rights of celebrities, and improving the overall state of the entertainment company. It took quite a bit of discussion before all parties present finally proclaimed that what they had accomplished was satisfying to their standards.

Jo Moonhwan summarized what he thought of the entire meeting, saying, 「Through a lot of interest and hard work, the entertainment industry's contracts are slowly changing and improving. Through this proclamation, I hope more celebrities can find their rights and that management companies and celebrities can build mutual respect [for each other.]」 He also expressed his hopes for further discussions regarding the improvement of future contract terms, which, if improved, will mean many changes to the social and economic states of South Korea as well.

Kim Youngmin, who also aspired to 「do our best to improve the culture industry, which causes Hanryu's expansion, and add national value to it,」 stated that the 「proclamation provides celebrities and their management companies with a win-win situation.」 If both Korea's cultural industry and the security of celebrity rights are secured with such a proclamation, it certainly will be win-win indeed!

SNSD members Sooyoung and Yuri attended the most recent proclamation, which was today, and said, 「SNSD is happy to be able to participate in this exemplary proclamation. We will do our best to spread Korea's pop culture worldwide and have it improve.」

Hopefully, with such beautiful young ladies witnessing the improvement of the state of Korea』s pop culture world, k-pop will both be improved and become more popular.

Sooyoung & Seohyun as Reporters interviewed Lee Seungchul

Last week Sooyoung and Seohyun were day reporters for Sports Seoul. They interviewed Lee SeungChul and had a little chat.

Lee Seungchul ordered a drink as soon as he came in.

Seohyun: "Sunbaenim. Drinking already from daytime."

Seohyun being the maknae with modest image seemed unfamiliar with him ordering beer already.

Lee Seungchul: "If you understand drinking you can also understand singing. There are disadvantages too. Belly fat..."

Seohyun: "Sometimes we have office dinners where I'll have to have a drink together but I haven't tried it yet. My birthday is 28th this month. I will try a drink then."


Lee Seungchul: "Seohyun ah. You live with your virtual husband Jung YongHwa on MBC We Got Married, how is it?"

Seohyun: "Although it is virtual it's fun. I haven't thought about a boyfriend or husband before and in WGM I read a book about dating and I wrote an essay about my future husband. Someone with a big goal in life. A man with a dream. I would like to live with a huband who is earnest, kindhearted and humorous. Looks are not a priority. My dad has lots of sense of humor. So our family is really harmonious."

Sooyoung: "Really Seohyun's dad is full of sense of humor. Last year we went on vacation together with Seohyun's family and dad's humor was really something. Seohyun can sometimes be off-the-wall and 4-dimensional and it must be the genes(?)."

Lee Seungchul: "... Woori Sooyoung what type of men do you like. Seems you are popular with guys in their mid and late 20's..."

Sooyoung: "Yoon JongShin sunbaenim once told me guys would like me because I seem comforting and won't nag at them(laughs). The ideal type I want is someone to dream together and to pursue it together. Having the same religion together is important to me also."

Lee Seungchul: "Sooyoung-ah, Seohyun-ah. But men have to have 'money'. That's important."

At Lee Seungchul's words that money is important Sooyoung and Seohyun clapped and laughed.


Lee Seungchul: "So, I hear all the SNSD members went on 3 weeks-long vacations what did you guys do?"

Seohyun: "I just rested fully. Because of activities I haven't tried mass transportations like bus and subways before and during this vacation I enjoyed them fully. Wearing a mask I went out with my mom and dad to cheer for the World Cup too. I have a special connection with World Cup. In 2002 when I was in 5th grade I went to the World Cup street cheer and that's where I was casted and got started with SM Entertainment."

Sooyoung: "I went to New York with my parents and my sister. It was nice getting the rest but being apart from the members for such long time I was missing them. Eating a hamburger in New York I was thinking 'Woori Sunny likes hamburgers so much...' I went to Disneyland and listened to My Child in the car and that was a pretty happy thing."


Sooyoung & Seohyun: "We SNSD will be debuting in Japan. We will have a showcase on August 25th in Tokyo. Sunbaenim you will support us?"

Lee Seung Chul: "Sure. SNSD will do great. The friendship between the girls seem tighter than guys'. And you guys got together since young age and went through hard times so you encourage and strengthen each other! SNSD fighting !!"

Yuri,Soo Young & Yoona transform into Rappers for Haha Mong!

SNSD's Soo Young,Yuri and Yoona show off rapping skills on Haha Mong Show.

Although their rapping skills are not as impressive as other female rappers but their raps are at least funny.A brief translation about their raps here.

"The three of them were addressing especially Seungri and at the end also Daesung. Yuri is rapping how Seungri is in the same college as her and that he promised her (in an interview) that he will introduce her to guys on the campus but he still hasn't done that. Then Sooyoung says that Yuri has been waiting a long time already for him to do that. XD Sooyoung also tells SeungRi that even though he is a sunbae in terms of debuting, but now he's her hoobae at college and she was also teasing Yuri that she is her hoobae (while Yuri is older) and then Yuri kept on saying sunbaenim to SY. Yoona was saying something about being friends with Seungri (since he is the same age as her) She also said something about Seungri greeting her and then Yuri asked why doesn't he greet you? and then Sooyoung said something to Daesung. She just said Daesung and then she corrected herself and said Daesung shi. XD She said she can't speak informal to him (cuz before she was talking informal to Seungri but it's ok since they are the same age)."

The tallest member of SNSD, SooYoung is now having worries about her belly fat.

On April 30th, during an interview of MBC 「Section TV,」 the members revealed the new nickname for SooYoung. When they were asked a question about their figures, the members said 「SooYoung gained the nickname 『Piggy Sooyoung』 recently.」

The cute SooYoung explained, 「I weighed myself after not doing so for a while, and I saw that I gained 3kg. It was the first time I weighed that much since I was born.」 She added on, 「I've gained belly fat. It's back from hibernating.」

In her profile, it is stated that her weight is 45 kg. With the new weight gain, she might have been around 49 kg. It seems fine for ordinary people like us but it is a big deal for celebrities since appearance is one of the most important assets. However, SooYoung seems pretty and cute as always, don't you agree? Let's hope she will not push herself too much for weight loss.

They showed their normal skin with less makeup and smiled naturally for the camera.

SNSD SooYoung's tears to Ok JooHyun』s heartfelt advice!

So Nyeo Shi Dae SooYoung is seen in tears with the heartfelt advice from Ok JooHyun.

Fin.K.L Ok JooHyun had made a special guest appearances on KBS 『WinWin』 featuring So Nyeo Shi Dae special. Ok JooHyun said on the show, 「I want to get close to So Nyeo Shi Dae. I don't know the male idols well and that's why if 2PM is here I won』t know. I saw WooYoung's name in the scripte and I don't know who he is.」

She was then asked on the show, 「What is the outstanding part when So Nyeo Shi Dae is being compared to Fin.K.L?」 She answered, 「Our average height and earnings are more. How do you compare 4-person group to 9-person group?」


But she continued on how So Nyeo Shi Dae is more outstanding in other aspects, 「I think that the So Nyeo Shi Dae who is promoting now has won Fin.K.L.」 But the So Nyeo Shi Dae responded with 「No.」 Ok JooHyun then replied, 「Because it is not that's why I can say so.」

She explained, 「Because of Fin.K.L I was able to grow up faster. I used to think that I would become a grandmother before 30. It has helped me. And thinking back, it really felt like I was able to live my own life.
So Nyeo Shi Dae is for me like a really beautiful picture which is able to help me recall those memories.」
With that SooYoung said, 「I agree with everything that unnie said and I am thankful. I wonder if I can be like unnie and meet my juniors and give them such advices.」
